Your First Meeting

Are you joining Cubs? Here’s what to do, what to bring, what to wear and what to expect.

If you are a Beaver swimming up…. The Beaver Leaders will have let you know when it is time to leave Beavers and swim up to Cubs. On the first meeting of the term we have a Swimming Up Ceremony when you are introduced to the pack. You need to wear your Beaver Uniform, sensible shoes for running about it, and a coat. Bring any essential medication such as inhalers or epipens. We don’t usually stop for a drink break, so if you like bring your water bottle and you can have a drink when you need to. We will give you a plastic folder with a Cub Power Pack in, and our Welcome Leaflet with contact details etc.

If you haven’t been Scouting before….You will have been contacted when there is a place for you. Please come wearing activity clothes (those you can run around and do messy activities in), sensible shoes for running about it, and a coat. Bring any essential medication such as inhalers or epipens. We don’t usually stop for a drink break, so if you like bring your water bottle and you can have a drink when you need to. We will give you a plastic folder with a Cub Power Pack in, and our Welcome Leaflet with contact details etc.

At your first meeting we will introduce you to the Pack, try and find someone you know to look after you, and then you will spend some time learning about Cub Scouting, and working towards the Membership Award which is the first badge you will gain at Cubs, and presented when you are invested (make your promise) as a Cub. Those who have been Beavers will instead receive the Moving On Award, when they renew their promise since they have already made their promise as a Beaver.
