St George’s Day Cathedral Service – Sunday 29th April 2012

Update Saturday 28th April: Usually we parade beforehand, but due to the inclement weather recently we have decided to stave off incipient hypothermia by instead assembling in the Cathedral from 1.30pm for the service to take place at 2pm.

Remember, Smartest Uniform please. See you there.

Remembrance Sunday

We will join the King’s Royal Rifle Corps at the Green Jackets memorial in the front of the

Cathedral at 0900 on Remembrance Sunday for a short memorial service. Smartest Uniform please.

Additionally, a small group will represent the Group at the British Legion Service, and they will meet at the King Alfred Statue on the Broadway at 0915. These members will be notified individually.

Shelterbox Update

Last year the Cubs worked very hard and fundraised an enormous amount of money to send to Shelterbox. I have just heard that our money has gone towards several boxes which have been deployed.

Box number  4653  one of 1,600 boxes sent to Columbia where they were experiencing flooding which destroyed 400,000 homes.

8,768 boxes were sent to  Pakistan including box no. 4831, again where flooding has taken place.

and most recently, box no 4715  has been sent to Libya to aid those victims of conflict, including school equipment.

Well done everyone.

CubTrail Challenge – Shelterbox Fundraising

We have some sponsors for our board, and are hoping for some more – so get sponsored!

The CubTrail challenge is a photo scavenger hunt around Winchester. Featuring local businesses and landmarks it will challenge the map reading and team work skills of groups of Cubs who will be trying to take photos of their team mascot at as many places around town as possible. There will be prized for the team who visits the most places, and for the individual who raises the most money.

The Playground from 'The Enormous Crocodile'

The 12th entered a team into the District Cubs Scrapheap Challenge. The story this year was Roald Dahl’s ‘The Enormous Crocodile’. The challenge was to illustrate some/all of the story using the junk that they had bought with them.

16th June 2010

Last night a ‘freak tornado’ hit Pinsent, and the Cubs were forced to construct a shelter from an old tarpaulin, some ropes and anything else they could scavenge. This was part of the Shelterbox Challenge.

We also gave out letters about the Pinsent 75th Birthday Incident Hike (info/activity form) and the district Cubs Athletics Badge evening on 7th July (a pack night). Please return both as soon as possible.
