Leaving Cubs

Everyone has to move on from Cubs eventually, some go to Scouts when they are 10 or 10 1/2, and some young people leave as they find Cubs isn’t for them or clashes with other activities. We will always miss anyone who leaves, and hope that you will have good memories of your time at the 12th Cubs.

Going to Scouts

The age at which you go to Scouts is variable, as most people like to go up with a group of friends. We will discuss this with you and your parents when it gets close to that time. We encourage Cubs to do the Hampshire Link badge, by attending both Cubs and Scouts for about a half term. See the back of your Powerpack for more details. When it’s time, you will leave Cubs and Akela will come to watch you ‘Cross the Line’ and become a Scout.

Not Going to Scouts?

If you decide to leave Cubs for any reason, please talk to us about it. You can phone, write or e-mail us, but please do let us know your decision otherwise we are just kept guessing. If you just don’t turn up then we are keeping your place for you unnecessarily. All over the UK there are thousands of youngsters who would like to join in with Scouting and can’t as there are not enough places.

What shall I do with my things?

Please consider donating your old uniform to the Group, to enable more people to be involved in scouting. Any badges can be removed, and put on your camp blanket. If you don’t want your powerpack any more then we can also put that to good use. If you have any camping equipment that you are not going to use again then we can also put that to good use, as we can take it to camp as spares.
