It’s not all hard work! Our GSL Peter relaxing on Brownsea Island, on Summer Camp 2011.
We:
- plan fun evenings, activities and camps.
- make sure it’s safe using extensive guidance available from HQ.
- try new things – we’re not all experts at everything, but all have something to offer.
- work as a team to share the load.
- are all assigned a dedicated training advisor who can support you to develop your skills.
- gain qualifications in outdoor activities such as shooting, archery, water activities, high ropes etc.
- have a well earned rest round the campfire!
- encourage the young people to challenge themselves and develop.
- enjoy nights out with the other leaders who are a great bunch!
Volunteering with Scouting is flexible, to fit in with the time that people have to give. Some people run the weekly meetings, some come to camp, some support weekend events, some work in the background (such as members of the Executive Committee). We support our Leaders who have to take time out for work or personal commitments. We have a great and experienced team of leaders who can show you what’s great about Scouting, but we’re also eager to learn something new from you.
For something completely different, to liven up your evenings and weekends (but not all of them!) try Scouting. It’s just as much fun as an adult! Contact us to discuss what you can do to help us keep Scouting in Winnall. Currently we are particularly looking for adults to work with the Beaver colony (ages 6-8) – contact Ann Quick on 01962 860865.
