Scouts

2009/10 has been a good year for our troop, seeing our numbers increase from 5 to 15. We now have two patrols and a varied and exciting programme.

The highlights of this year have been summer camp at Pinsent, where we built all mod cons such as a washer-dresser, a drawbridge gate and even a hanging plate rack.
Next was the annual freeze-a-thon where we cooked the usual turkey and all the trimmings in a mud oven.
Next years summer camp will be in the Lake District which involves some fundraising. We chose a sponsored bike ride, and on the 9th April we left for the New Forest loaded up with tents, bikes and a few gullible adult volunteers. We covered 30 miles in 7 hours and all the Scouts felt a sense of achievement and deserved to be very proud of themselves.
The Scouts also attended District Camp and took part in the shooting and archery competitions – one of our Scouts not only won the shooting, but also sharpshooter of the day!
